Local Activities

The region offers a variety of activities; from shopping, eco-experiences, pre-Hispanic sites or just hanging out on a secluded beach, the area is a treasure trove of things to do and discover.

The island in the bay offers a sanctuary to a variety of beautiful birds. You can take a small boat for a very small price, bring a lunch and enjoy a day on the beach or for an amazing day of bird watching. Here too is a coral reef that you can enjoy snorkeling and discover some of the tropical fish of the region.

While here from November to March, you will want to experience pods of gray whales as they feed and calf their young.

A short 20 min. drive and a 30 minute walk into the jungle, you can enjoy the ancient petroglyph sites and spiritual surroundings of a ancient retreat for the Huchicol Indians. The site is from pre-Hispanic time and the Indians still come here to practice their rituals and prayer. To experience this is unbelievable and so serine. After centuries, the heavy rains have worn a seating area into the mountain side, almost like a natural amphitheatre. The seats fall down around small pools and they cascade down to the river at the bottom. The site has now been named a historical treasure and is protected and well worth the trip.

Also, just down the road is our favorite beach. It stretches for several miles and is often empty. Looking to just relax on a beach?  We’ll supply you with towels, umbrellas, beach chairs and a picnic lunch for that perfect day on the warm sand. The turtle preserve is here as well where the sea turtles come every year to lay their eggs. The eggs are collected and hatched at the preserve.

We are located in the heart of the region what is now called The Rivera Nayarit.  This region has been designated as a green zone and has become a popular tourist destination as an undiscovered part of Mexico, with its endless beautiful beaches and old Mexico flavor.

Nearby towns include San Pancho where a new arts and cultural center has just opened to offer venues for local artisans. They offer hands-on classes in many arts from local artists.  Also nearby is the town of Sayulita, well known for its surfing. Many young people vacation here as well as the young at heart. They offer surfing lessons and board rentals, lots of great shopping and restaurants. They are a short ride away from our Villa and a great way to spend the day on the beach.
If you have a particular activity that you would like to book in advance, please let us know and we will secure your adventure before you arrive.  If you would prefer to wait until after your arrival to paradise, that is fine as well.  We’ll make sure that you will do as much, or as little, as you desire on your vacation.
